Born in Vietnam and raised in Orlando, Florida, Attorney Bao Linh Than earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida:  Levin College of Law in Gainesville and was admitted to practice law in Florida and the United States Federal Court, Middle District of Florida.

Attorney Bao formed Than Law, P.A. in 2018 to update and modernize the practice of law while still respecting its traditions and prestige. He envisioned a law firm that’s always available and working on behalf of its clients independent of physical locations or working hours. Coming from an I.T. background, he structured his firm according to his vision of a cloud-based, 21st century modern law office. As long as the internet exists, Than Law, P.A. can operate.

Attorney Bao is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar, the Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Associations (GOAABA), the Central Florida Trial Lawyer Association (CFTLA), the Florida Justice Association, and the National Conference of Vietnamese-American Attorneys (NCVAA). He constantly works on improving his knowledge of the law through these associations in order to better serve his clients.

Prior to opening his own practice, Attorney Bao worked at a personal injury law firm in Orlando.  There, he handled a large amount of cases involving Personal Injury Claims, Homeowners’ Insurance Litigation, Family Law, and Probate matters. In addition, his fluency in both English and Vietnamese enables him to regularly advise members of the Central Florida Vietnamese Community on legal matters.

While attending Law School, Attorney Bao interned for the Honorable Mary Day Coker at the Alachua County Court, Probate Division and the Federal Defender's Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Prior to attending Law School, young Bao dreamed of becoming a Professional Wrestler until he discovered he didn’t quite have the stature for it. He taught High School History at Ocoee High School for many years. Bao’s former students routinely come to him for their legal needs, both at his old firm and at Than Law, P.A. He also operated an I.T. business selling and repairing computers, which informed his vision of improving the practice of law through technology.

Outside of the legal world, Bao is happily married to Bethany Nguyen, whom he has known since the age of 11. Bao is an avid motorcyclist and a cars and soccer enthusiast. He is part owner of a motorcycle garage and independent dealership called Sprocket Science Company, the main sponsor for the 2Wheels Heaven Motorcycle Racing team, and a sponsor of the UCF Knight Riders Organization. Via his other company the BaoChickaWow Rental Company (yes it’s real), Bao makes available his fleet of unique and weird looking cars for events and weddings rental.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, especially his son Tyrone Than and playing approximately 15-20 musical instruments very badly.

Some of Bao Linh Than’s past results (individually and working with other Attorneys over the course of his career) includes:

  • Successful recovery in litigation and pre-litigation of $575,000.00 for a couple hit by a delivery truck.

  • Successful recovery in litigation of over $600,000.00 for a client hit by a semi-truck.

  • Successful recovery of over $495,000.00 prior to litigation for a family involved in a multi-car pile-up.

  • Jury Verdict at trial in the amount of $240,800.00 plus court costs for an auto accident case. This one was done in collaboration with Attorney Than’s previous law firm due to him being the attorney on the case since its inception. Pre-suit offer from the insurer was $0.00. Upon realizing its mistake in litigation, the insurer offered to tender the policy limits of $100,000.00. Our client refused to accept the policy limits tender and rightfully so, elected to go to trial. After 6 grueling days at trial where the Defendant’s representative tried everything under the sun to discredit our client and his medical providers, the Jury returned a favorable verdict.

  • Successful recovery of $60,000.00 for a client in a slip and fall accident at a local restaurant.

  • Successful assist in turning a contested divorce involving minor children, multiple businesses and real estates in excess of $1 million dollars into a cooperative divorce, saving client time and money.

  • Successful recovery of $110,000.00 for a commercial property with damaged roof when the initial insurance posture was the complete denial of coverage.

  • Successful recovery of $65,000.00 in benefits for a homeowner with damaged roof when the initial insurance posture was the complete denial of coverage.

  • Successful recovery of $50,000.00 in benefits for a homeowner with damaged roof when the initial insurance posture was the complete denial of coverage.

  • Successful recovery of $30,000.00 in benefits for a homeowner with damaged roof when the initial insurance posture was the complete denial of coverage.

  • Successful pre-litigation recovery of hundred of thousands of dollars in benefits for clients affected by hurricanes, hail and wind storms, and damages due to accidental and sudden discharge of water.

  • Successful resolution of a contested divorce whereby the respondent (the other side) kept his assets hidden in gold bars and lied about his income. Bao successfully explained to the Court how much a “tael” of gold was.

  • Assisted in negotiating a successful resolution of a Probate matter (representing the decedent’s family) whereby the decedent’s estranged girl friend magically appeared with a will leaving all assets to her.

  • Successfully obtained a favorable divorce, custody arrangement, child support, AND a green card for a client from Washington State. The client’s husband brought her over from Vietnam, but never went through with any immigration paperwork and was basically holding her hostage. The client finally had the courage to leave the home with a police-escort and came to Florida to be with her family. Bao assisted in both the immigration and family law cases.

  • Defended a family law client against a restraining order (domestic violence injunction) filed by her husband, hoping to use it during a custody dispute. The injunction was dissolved and the Judge took note of the Petitioner’s dishonest attempt to influence the Court.

  • Successfully obtained a three-year restraining order (subject to reevaluation at expiration) for a Client being stalked by her former boy-friend.

  • Successfully navigated the Probate portion of a wrongful death claim. The decedent was not prepared prior to his untimely death, leaving his widow in heavy debt and the marital home in foreclosures. Successfully obtained an Order of Administration for his widow, allowing her to receive the full portion of her wrongful death settlement while satisfying all legal obligations to creditors.

  • Successful defense of a Nails Shop owner, who in an attempt to prevent a customer from leaving without paying, accidentally ripped off her false eye lashes and was charged with battery.
